EARLIER: NINTH MAN CHARGED

A MAN allegedly linked to the Mongols bikie gang has been charged with the murder of Shane Bowden.

The 37-year-old Wanora man, who police believe is a member of the bikie gang, was charged on Tuesday and is expected to face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

He is the ninth person to be charged over Bowden’s death.

Mr Bowden, a former Mongols bikie who defected to his original club, the Finks before his death, was gunned down 21 times in the driveway of a Pimpama unit on October 12, 2020.

South Eastern Police Regional Crime Coordinator, Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith said police were continuing to dismantle the so-called brotherhood and code of silence surrounding the death.

“This was a calculated and premeditated act with many people involved in varying aspects of the execution of Shane,” he said.

“There is no loyalty when you are facing a significant time behind bars away from your family and friends. This is the time to speak up and take advantage of the indemnity on offer and the $250,000 reward.

“I can assure the community that we will continue to identify and arrest all of those involved in this murder, no matter how long it takes, and bring each and every one of them before the courts.

Police continue to seek community assistance for any additional information which may assist the investigation and provide further closure for Mr Bowden’s family.
