FREE food has been given away at a popular restaurant after it unexpectedly closed its doors.

Staff were seen moving furniture out of Aqua Front Restaurant in Labrador today, which stopped trading without warning over the weekend.

A post on the Gold Coast Buy Swap and Sell Facebook page earlier today said the seafood restaurant was giving away free food due to the closure.

“Frozen kebabs, chick n beef (sic), all good quality. Seafood chowder, ice cream gelato choc (sic) fudge beef stock bolognaise (sic). All good stuff, if u (sic) have freezer space then your (sic) good to go,” Shannon Houghton posted.

Mr Houghton refused to comment further but said he was a staff member.

The closure comes as popular southern Gold Coast haunt Burleigh Social has also closed its doors suddenly.

The Bulletin went to Aqua Front earlier today and saw two men moving tables out of the restaurant.

The men refused to comment.

According to business searches the Aqua Front Restaurant on Marine Parade is owned by Nickolas and Rodica Bahlas.

The restaurant signed a five year lease in June last year.

The Marine Parade, Labrador property was sold at auction in October last year.
