THE man behind back-alley Burleigh bar Night Jar and a string of popular Gold Coast eateries is busy building his latest watering hole – this time a live music haunt at Nobby Beach.
Scott Imlach has revealed to ATG he plans to call his next bar Night Cap, and it will focus on original live music.
Imlach believes it will be the first small bar licence issued on the Gold Coast outside of the entertainment precincts of Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and Coolangatta.
Night Cap, which is now under construction beside Italian restaurant Gemellini, will have capacity for about 100 people and be open seven nights a week.
Its hours at this stage will be 6pm to midnight.

“It’s a small bar licence, no need for food, just a bar and heavily focused on live music, both originals and covers.
“The focus will be on live acts and people who are trying to break into the market.
“It will be a bit of a rocking kind of bar,” he says, adding they will be spending a decent amount to ensure sound proofing.
Imlach, whose hospitality stable includes Hideaway Kitchen and Bar at Broadbeach, Mr Hizola’s in Burleigh and Bine Bar and Dining at Mermaid, says the aim is for original music during the week with covers on Friday and Saturday nights at Night Jar.
