AN AWARD-WINNING restaurant’s shock liquidation has left former staff and suppliers fearing they will be left without thousands of dollars in salary and unpaid invoices.
Providore Marina Mirage and Providore Bulimba went into liquidation on Tuesday after being closed for a couple of weeks.
Since the Bulletin revealed the businesses were in liquidation several former employees and suppliers have contacted the paper to say they are owed money.
Janaia Whelan-Leslie claimed she was owed about $2000 in unpaid hours and overtime.
Ms Whelan-Leslie worked at Providore Marina Mirage for three months when it was one of the best breakfast restaurants on the Gold Coast.
The restaurant won The Bulletin’s Best Breakfast Restaurant three years running, in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Another former employer, who wished to remain anonymous, alleged he was owed about $15,000.
He claimed staff would work 60-80 hours a week and would only be paid the regular 38 and no overtime.
“But being a professional you would still go into to work and try and do your job,” he said.
A Logan fruit and vegetable grower claimed he was owed more than $6000 since about February.
“We are a hard working family and can’t afford to lose that money.”
The owners of Providore Marina Mirage have not returned the Bulletin’s calls.
