STRUGGLING businesses and service providers can plug their wares on air through Radio Pac Pines every Monday and Friday starting this week.
Radio Pac Pines is a 24/7 online station streaming music and student radio shows broadcast across the globe, with some 20 students from Pacific Pines State High School volunteering.
Former radio personality, carpenter and construction teacher Michael Walkley co-ordinates the station, which he built from the ground up.
The teacher said he came up with the “shout out” idea after hearing of the financial hardship some of his students’ parents were going through.
“Our school, the radio and the Pacific Pines Alliance is just trying to help the community during a tough time. This Monday we had special deals for listeners as well as discounts on a variety of services and products.”
“Our principal Mark Peggrem will be on air this Friday about 10am to talk about the school’s plan for how it will operate learning externally.”
Mr Walkley said shout outs would be made on Mondays and Fridays from 9am to noon. To submit a business, send a request via SMS on 0482 452 860 or email mwalk297@eq.edu.au.
People within 1km of the school can tune in to 106.5FM otherwise it can be streamed at radio.pacificpinesalliance.com.au/live-stream
