Police are investigating after an elderly man was found dead at a Gold Coast train station

POLICE are investigating after an elderly man was found dead at a Gold Coast train station.

Officers were called to Helensvale Train Station at 6.25am this morning.

It’s believed the man’s death did not occur in suspicious circumstances and is related to a medical episode, according to a Queensland Police spokeswoman.

However, investigations were ongoing at 8am.

Paramedics from Queensland Ambulance Service were also called to the train station on Town Centre Dr at 6am.

The incident was handed over to police and an ambulance spokeswoman could not provide more information.

It’s understood the man’s body was laying on the station platform this morning, covered by a blue tarp.

There has been no delays to train services because of the speedy response of emergency services, said a TransLink spokesman.
