EMERGENCY services are attending a serious motorcycle crash at the Gold Coast hinterland, near where a man was killed in a fiery collision only hours earlier.

A male in his 30s lost control of his motorcycle near the corner of Beechmont Rd and Nerang-Murwillumbah Rd at Advancetown just before 3pm Friday.

Early reports suggest the rider collided with a pole.

The collision is the second incident to occur in the area within 24 hours, after a man died inside his car after it burst into flames when it careened off nearby Latimers road.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics, including a critical care unit, were treating the rider for chest and leg injuries.

He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Horrifying scenes in aftermath of fiery fatal crash

October 1: Emergency services workers who arrived at the shocking scene of a fiery car crash in the Gold Coast hinterland were powerless to save a man inside the vehicle.

Tragically, the driver of the VW Golf died inside his car after it burst into flames before rescuers arrived at Latimers Crossing Rd at Advancetown, it’s understood.

Early on Friday afternoon, Queensland Police officers were still working to identify the man after the crash about 12.30am.

Early investigations indicate the Volkswagen “left the road and crashed into an embankment” before it burst into flames.

“The man died at the scene. He was the only occupant of the car and is yet to be formally identified,” a police statement read.

A power pole was struck in the crash and lines were brought down across the road, resulting in an outage in the Advancetown area.

The VW was still on fire when Queensland Fire and Emergency Services arrived on scene about 12.50am. The fire was extinguished shortly after 1am.

Energex was called to confirm the vehicle was not electrified, to make the area safe and to reinstate power.

Police warned after the crash that Latimers Crossing Rd would be shut for several hours while investigations were ongoing.
