A RUNAWAY golf cart has injured a young staff member at a Parkwood golf course on Friday afternoon.

Witnesses say the cart was rolling down a hill at The Club at Parkwood Village with a teenage staffer attempting to stop it.

David Barron, who was visiting the course with friends, said the cart knocked the young man into the water.

“We were playing putt putt golf and one of (us) looked around and saw the golf cart rolling down a steep incline with a young guy trying to stop it going into the water,” he said.

“He couldn’t do it. It ran him over and he ended up under the golf cart in the water.

“(My friend) raced across and jumped in. Apparently he just had his mouth up to be able to breathe but this guy pushed the cart over and pulled him out.”

The boy reportedly had a large gash on his leg when he was pulled from the water.

Paramedics confirmed they transported a patient from the Napper Road club to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition around 4.30pm.

The golf cart was still submerged as of late Friday afternoon.
