Two more teens have been charged with stealing a luxury vehicle that was later crashed by a 13-year-old boy.

Police on Saturday said a 16-year-old boy had been charged with two counts each of unlawful use of motor vehicle and one count each of burglary and stealing.

“It will be alleged he was involved in stealing various items from a Carrara residence on April 5, including a Range Rover and Subaru XV,” a spokesman said.

He is due in Southport Childrens Court later this month.

A 14-year-old girl was dealt with under the Youth Justice Act for offences including burglary, enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

It comes as the Bulletin revealed the 13-year-old boy, who is lucky to be alive after crashing the Range Rover at Ashmore about 6.35am on Thursday April 8, failed to show up to court to face charges over the incident.

He was initially taken to hospital in a critical condition after the crash but by the following morning his condition had improved.

The Bulletin has been told he had been released from hospital. However, legal sources did not know why he failed to show for Southport Children’s Court on Wednesday.

He has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary, receiving tainted property, unlicensed driving and careless driving.

It is unclear if a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Police on Saturday declined to say whether one had been issued.

The freshly charged teens were not involved in the crash.

A 13-year-old boy who crashed an allegedly stolen Range Rover is well known to police, and posting on social media from hospital about the incident.

The “stolen” luxury SUV careened into bushland at the intersection of Old Coach Rd and Southport-Nerang Rd about 6.35am on Thursday, Gold Coast police stated.

The boy was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after the crash.

He was in hospital in a serious condition on Thursday night.

In a brazen move, the boy released an Instagram video from his hospital bed showing the aftermath of the crash. His clothes were blood-soaked as he filmed himself.

He has since been slapped with a string of charges including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary, receiving tainted property, unlicenced driving and careless driving.

The SUV, owned by Holly Lines, was stolen from her home in a gated community in Carrara along with another car on Tuesday night.

Ms Lines told 9 News she didn’t know how the teen survived the crash.

“I was talking to the police officer about it and he’s 13, he’ll get a caution,” Ms Lines said. “They just get away with it time and time again. It’s a joke.”

The boy was found nearby, at Burnside Court, suffering from serious injuries after the crash.

A witness on scene said he believed the Range Rover’s driver "failed to negotiate a corner” before the vehicle “has gone off the road and narrowly missed a street sign”.

The witness, who did not want to be named, said the car “sideswiped a tree stump and has then gone down a small embankment”.

“It’s caused the car to become airborne and the car’s windscreen was actually lodged in a tree. Still lodged in a tree now,” he said.

“He’s (the driver) rolled the car and then it’s landed on its wheels and he’s done a runner and ended up about 500 metres up the road.

“Apparently there was a lot of blood in the car.”
