A woman who allegedly escaped Numinbah Correctional Centre has been found less than an hours’ drive from the facility.

Queensland Police and Queensland Corrective Services teamed up to search for the 29-year-old, locating her at about 3pm yesterday.

The woman, who was found at a residence in Labrador, has been charged with one count of escape by persons in lawful custody.

She was set to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on Monday, but the matter was adjourned until January 10.

Chief Superintendent Craig Hanlon, of Gold Coast police, said the woman was recaptured at a Labrador address on Friday afternoon.

He said police were hunting associates who allegedly helped her hide out and were confident of more arrests.

“It’s good to see people who should be incarcerated and who escape incarceration to be picked up fairly quickly,” he told ABC Gold Coast on Monday.

Queensland Police continue to investigate the woman’s movements during the three days she was missing. Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
