Rescue under way for woman injured on remote bushwalk
Ambulance crews were facing a long night of hiking to reach a woman injured in a fall in a remote section of Lamington National Park on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to a spot near Larapinta Falls after a bushwalker fell on a track around 2.45pm.
Queensland Ambulance Service said a “delayed extrication” of the patient, a woman in her 60s, was expected.
Initial reports said the woman had suffered wrist and back injuries.
Due to windy weather and the time of day, the rescue helicopter was unable to be tasked to the scene, so crews were expecting a three-hour hike to reach the woman.
