IT wasn’t really a royal welcome ... or an ideal first impression of the Gold Coast.
The motorcade of His Royal Highness Prince Andrew the Duke of York, KG, had to divert into the shoulder lanes of the M1 to avoid 20km of gridlock this morning.
But when the Prince, who is sixth in line to the throne, arrived at Bond University this morning, it was to much fanfare.
It is the first time royalty has arrived on the Gold Coast in decades.
HRH, followed by an entourage of staff and security, arrived at Bond University at 10.30am to a crowd of welcoming students.
