Police hunt man after gun fired inside Star Gold Coast hotel room

POLICE are hunting for a man who has scarpered from Star Gold Coast after firing a gun inside one of its hotels.

A gun shot was fired in a Star Gold Coast hotel room this afternoon. Police are now hunting the man responsible.

POLICE are hunting for a man who shot a television in a hotel room at the Star Gold Coast casino early this afternoon.

Officers were called to the casino about 1pm after reports of shot fired.

A bullet hole was found in a television in one of the hotel rooms and the man had fled

Gold Coast Police regional duty officer Inspector Barry Day said the focus was on finding the person as it was understood the man had mental health issues.

“We are gravely concerned for his welfare,” he said.

Insp Day said police were in contact with the man’s family and trying to find where he may be.

A Star statement said: “An issue on property earlier today is the subject of a police investigation. The Star Gold Coast is fully operational.”
