Police charged two people after allegedly stealing a car from Ferry Rd, Southport petrol station

A ride-share driver got a rude shock when his car was taken from a service station on a major Gold Coast arterial road.

Police have charged two people who allegedly stole a car from a service station on a major Gold Coast arterial road.

It will be alleged the duo took the vehicle from a Ferry Rd petrol station in Southport at 10.30pm on Friday.

Acting Superintendent Scott Knowles said a rideshare driver had parked his white Toyota Corolla at the station and accidentally left his keys inside.

“Two people have taken it upon themselves to get in the car and take it,” he said.

PolAir tracked the suspects to Muir St in Labrador where officers arrested two people.

A 29-year-old woman from Runaway Bay was charged with unlawful use and possession of drugs and drug utensils.

She was bailed and is set to reappear at Southport Magistrates Court on December 3.

A 36-year-old man from Arundel was charged with unlawful use and breaching bail.

He will be held in custody and is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
