Police are investigating after a man was rushed to hospital for surgery following an altercation involving 11 people at Burleigh Heads.

Police are investigating after a man was rushed to hospital for surgery following an altercation involving 11 people at Burleigh Heads.
Emergency services were called to Goodwin Terrace after reports of an altercation between two groups at around 10pm on August 2.
A Gold Coast police spokesperson said it was understood the incident between a group of six and a family of five happened between Burleigh Pavilion and the Burleigh Heads Surf Life Saving Club.
Paramedics assessed a 52-year-old Victorian man who had multiple facial injuries and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for surgery.
It was understood the two groups were not known to each other.
Detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch are appealing for anyone who witnessed the grievous bodily harm incident, particularly anyone with video to call them on 131 444.
Investigations are ongoing.
