A road rage incident in Palm Beach has ended with a man being run over by a van. How it all happened.

Police are investigating a road rage incident in Palm Beach that left one man hospitalised after being runover by a van.

Police and paramedics were called to the Gold Coast Highway at Twenty Third Avenue, Palm Beach, after being alerted to a a car colliding with a pedestrian at around 9am Wednesday morning.

However, initial investigations found that the incident involved a minor crash between two cars.

Police said the driver of one car, a 49-year-old man, exited his car before approaching the driver of the second car, a 63-year-old man.

The interaction escalated and an altercation ensued between the two before the 63-year-old man drove off - running over the second man.

QAS were called to the scene shortly after where they found the man collapsed on the side of the highway with serious injuries to his head, chest and pelvis.

A QAS media spokeswoman said: “Paramedics have treated a male pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle.”

“The man sustained serious injuries to his head, chest and pelvis.”

He was taken to Gold Coast University Hopital in a stable condition.

Police attending the incident then located the 63-year-old and a van a short time later in Currumbin.

The driver is assisting police with enquiries.
