The stark white paint job on the Nucrush facility on Southport-Nerang Road has been replaced by vibrant blue imagery to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary.
The 13m-tall art, by local artist Dean Cogle, will be unveiled today in a ceremony by its owners, the Neumann family which also runs Nucon.
It features images of Southport buildings as they appeared in the 1960s.
Michelle Neumann said the art was a thank you to Southport and had been developed over a six-month period.
“We wanted to leave a lasting legacy behind here in Southport and we hope the town loves the artwork.
“I honestly believe that art can bring the community together and Dan did a marvellous job in reflecting the coastal lifestyle.”
The Neumann family, including former Gold Coast mayor Robert and Coolangatta council alderman Alfred have been a big part of the community since the 1920s.
