Police have launched an investigation after a five-month-old girl was taken to hospital with critical internal injuries.
Officers were called to a Coomera address just before 2.30pm on Wednesday, February 1, to a reportedly unconscious five-month-old girl who was experiencing breathing difficulties and suffering cardiac arrest.
She had no obvious injuries.
The baby was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
Police said tests had since confirmed the baby suffered significant internal injuries.
She remains in a critical condition.
Detectives from the Gold Coast District Child Protection and Investigation Unit have formed ‘Operation Victor Sector’ to investigate the cause of her injuries.
