A WOMAN staying on the Gold Coast has been identified as the state’s only new case of the coronavirus overnight, after she was diagnosed while in quarantine.
Authorities have this morning confirmed the woman returned into the country from Pakistan and developed symptoms of the virus.
She had been staying at a Gold Coast hotel but has since been transferred to the Gold Coast University Hospital after testing positive.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the woman now brings the state’s active cases to three.
“She was in quarantine, so we don’t have any concerns there, but, of course, we’re going to be monitoring her health,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
“But that, once again, is no locally acquired transmission here in Queensland.”
1063 people in Queensland have been diagnosed with the virus with 196 known cases on the Gold Coast since January this year, 490 locals are still in active quarantine.
