In the midst of multiple business closures, one new venue brings a taste of Brazilian flair to the Gold Coast Highway strip.
Mermaid Beach’s newest brunch, bar and music spot Augusta – inspired by the bustling streets of Sao Paulo – offers a new foreign food destination to the city.
Located along 2550 Gold Coast Highway, the business is owned and operated by three Brazilians and one Aussie, Marc Freund.
“The new business has exceeded our expectations,” Mr Freund said.
“It’s something new, especially for the Brazilian community.
“They really support us and everyone is excited to finally get this kind of food here.”
Mr Freund along with his business partners Tulio Andreatta, Victor Santos and Markus Protus opened the venue on June 10 and said customer feedback had been “amazing”.
“People are really loving the venue, the food, the atmosphere – it’s always been a great spot and the size of the space is amazing,” Mr Freund said.
Utilising the space to the best of its ability, Mr Freund said people of the Gold Coast can expect live specialist Brazilian music accompanied by “fun” and “good food you’ve never tried before made in house and from local suppliers”.
“We have live music on the weekends – two of my partners are musicians and have quite a following,” he said.
“There’s nothing else like this here – it’s a great space to come enjoy with friends and have a great time.”
Augusta is open 8am to 2pm Tuesday to Saturday, reopening 5pm to 10pm Thursday to Saturday and open 8am until 5pm Sunday.
