New floating beach club at Marina Mirage to bring Mykonos buzz to Main Beach on Gold Coast

The Gold Coast’s hospitality king is bringing the Mykonos buzz to Main Beach with the launch of a new multimillion-dollar floating beach club.
Pat Gennari, with four venues in Broadbeach, is also taking his Marina Mirage footprint to four with the addition of La Luna Beach Club and associated Mare restaurant.
He already has two other venues, La Luna restaurant and Glass at the waterside hub.
The beach club built by GC Marine and Open Projects and sailed in from Coomera sits on 13 floating pontoons and is tied to the Marina Mirage wharf.
It has six luxury cabanas – including one premium cabana for up to 30 guests – plus eight king day beds surrounding two pools.
Mr Gennari – hosting a VIP launch on Tuesday before it opens to the public at 11am the next day – said it was bringing Mykonos beach club vibe to the Coast and adding to the city’s tourism appeal.
“We want to bring Europe to the Gold Coast, bring a bit of Monaco,” he said.
La Luna Beach Club has an age limit of 21 and up, with bookings requiring a minimum spend for cabanas.
Mr Gennari said it worked out at $75 per person per hour – with top-shelf champagne and a bespoke cocktail and food menu in Mediterranean style.
“It is for an older clientele, the boaties, the tourists around The Spit staying at Versace and Sheraton Mirage.”
“We are not looking for that party scene. It’s about total relaxation at a beach club, nice tunes, saxophone – you might have had dinner at La Luna restaurant or Glass and pop down.
“The vision is for a luxury destination and social haven with glamour and trendsetting cocktails and cuisine.”
Mr Gennari said the idea emerged after he worked hard to find a spot for a sand-edge club at Broadbeach. He was then approached by Marina Mirage owners Natalie and Jason Makris to do a floating pontoon venue.
“They had the same vision to do something that brings more people to the Gold Coast. This is for tourism.”
“Everyone wants to come to the Gold Coast for Dreamworld and Sea World but what do we do for the adults? Where is our fun park?”
Mr Gennari said the city hospitality offering was going to the next level constantly with additions such as Burleigh Pavilion, rooftop Cali Beach Club in Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach cabaret nightclub Pink Flamingo.
“We are all putting money on the line and bringing the Gold Coast alive again.”
Mr Gennari said it wouldn’t have been possible without his staff and Gennari Group general manager Steven de Maio.
It will be open Wednesday through Sunday but go to seven days a week across the Christmas and New Year period. Day and sunset booking options will run 11am to 3.30pm and 3.30pm to 8pm.
The venue was designed in conjunction with August Homes and Gennari Group longtime venue collaborator Space Cubed.
