New Australian Bureau of Statistics show which Gold Coast suburbs have the least men

A surprising gender imbalance has been exposed in Gold Coast suburbs, leaving some singles asking where all the men are?

A SURPRISING gender imbalance has been exposed in Gold Coast suburbs, leaving some singles asking where all the men are?

One of them, a hairdresser, even reckons she’ll give a free haircut if the right man asks her on a date.

Australian Bureau of Statistics figures released this week have revealed Coombabah has the shortest supply of blokes on the Gold Coast, with just 85.8 to every 100 ladies.

But it’s the opposite problem at Jacobs Well/Alberton, which is suffering from a lady drought with 110 men to every 100 women.

Across the city the split if more even, but the fairer sex still outweighs the men, with 94.7 blokes to every 100 women.

For Gold Coast single Jenay Zandona, the stats might explain why she hasn’t met that special someone while at work at Coombabah.

The Wild About Hair hairdresser and beauty therapist says the numbers finally add up.

“Yeah, I haven’t seen too many eligible bachelors around Coombabah – or too many blokes altogether,” Ms Zandona said.

But even though she wasn’t necessarily looking for a fella any time soon, the chirpy 21-year-old joked that she might have to check out Jacobs Well some time soon.

“I might find myself a farm boy,” she said.

“I do think no matter what the ratio is, it is hard to meet someone on the Gold Coast.

“Guys seem to be a little extra picky lately, even though we are going though COVID and it is pretty much the end of the world.

“It’s harder to go out and do anything for a date and also, you don’t know where they have been,” she laughed.

A country girl originally from Griffith in NSW, she said she loves a guy with tattoos, nice eyes, a smile and a sense of humour.

“If you take me on a date, I’ll even give you a hair cut,” she promised.
