IF YOU were one of the many Gold Coast motorists left wondering why a scantily clad man was tied to a mattress at Mermaid Waters today, wonder no more.

The incident which left many locals perplexed has been revealed to be part of the latest escapades of notorious internet prankster Shammi.

The footage which emerged Monday evening shows Shammi and a number of friends strapping a severely hungover mate to a mattress and then to the back of a ute.

The unnamed friend was then tied to a road sign on Bermuda Street, Mermaid Waters.

In the video Shammi says the prank is in order to, “teach him a lesson” for sleeping in after 12pm.

The friend, clothed in just briefs, was zip-tied to his mattress before being loaded onto the back of a waiting rental ute.

The footage then shows the man then being strapped to the sign and being honked at by passing motorists.

It is not the first time Shammi, who has a reputation for producing outrageous videos with his mates, has left his friends in public with little-to-no clothing.

Previous viral pranks have included hurling live chickens, leaving his friends without clothes and shoving his girlfriend into bushes.
