Nacho Baby proves popular after opening night in Tweed Heads

A new Mexican tequila bar in the city’s south have proved to be a success and the owners say they make one of the best margaritas in Australia.

A new Mexican tequila bar in the city’s south has proved to be a success and the owners say they have one of the best margaritas in Australia.

Nacho Baby opened in Tweed Heads a week ago and one of the four owners Dan Hunjas said within an hour they were at capacity and had to turn people away.

He said they were inspired to create Nacho Baby around three years ago in a bid to share their passion of quality Tequilas and Mezcals.

“We want to take people on a journey of Mexico through our amazing drink menu,” he said.

Mr Hunjas said the bar was designed to ensure it had authentic tunes of Mexico infused within it.

“Our space transport you directly into the heart of the culture,” he said.

He said on opening night the Classic Margarita was a crowed favourite.

“We may be a little bias, but we rate it as a contender for Best Margarita in Australia,” Mr Hunjas said.

He said they had curated a cocktail menu which “combines the classic flavours of Mexico with local ingredients to leave your tastebuds craving more”.

Mr Hunjas said they chose to open in Tweed Heads because it was an untapped market for late-night venues.

“They are very few options where you can step out for the night and really enjoy a high quality venue with equally high quality drinks to match,” he said.

Mr Hunjas said they were confident in their success in the area due to the response on opening night.

“We had hundreds of people come down to celebrate with us,” he said,

“It was an amazing vibe and atmosphere and the feedback that we have received has been very positive.”
