The Gold Coast preps of 2022 have made it through their first school term and are barrelling their way to becoming all grown up – and today we want to celebrate it with them.

The Bulletin today publishes its fifth annual My First Year liftout, this time featuring 26 schools, more than 100 classes and hundreds of students.

Gaven State School deputy principal Danette Dare said: “Teaching prep in 2022 is fantastic, exciting and innovative.

“I’m so excited about engaging students in their learning and watching them grow.”

Education Minister Grace Grace also wished the students good luck.

“I always remember having my new lunch box, books and stationery, which all had a lovely new smell,” she said.

“I felt so excited and grown up heading to school.

“My advice to prep students is try your best, enjoy learning, make good friends and most importantly have fun.

“My advice to parents: well, they may need some retail therapy after they drop their kids off!”

Our Bulletin photographers have loved getting to meet all of your adorable and amazing kids, from schools with six Prep classes to those with fewer than two dozen Prep students.
