ANIMAL lover Mady White was sickened by the cruel slaughter of a cat whose blood was used to scrawl a message on a garage door, only to be heartbroken when she realised it was her beloved moggy, Moo.
Mady had no idea Moo was missing until police knocked on her door on Wednesday afternoon and told her the cat she adopted six months ago had been mutilated in a sickening attack at Arundel.
Police arrived at her home with a search warrant as they hunt down the attacker.
“They said they were looking for blood and body parts,” she said yesterday.
“I had no idea what they were talking about.
“I was convinced I’d seen Moo the day before and a ran around the house looking for her to prove they were wrong.”
But the police weren’t wrong.
RSPCA OFFERS $5000 REWARD FOR CAT KILLER
Police believe one of Mady’s friends snatched the cat from the Bundall home she shares with her mother before driving to Arundel where Moo’s head and paws were cut off.
The cat’s blood was used to scrawl a terrifying message aimed at the owner’s young son: “whers my money tik tok”.
The target of the attack, Lewis Hallam, broke his silence yesterday.
“Just make sure everyone knows how sick in the head they are,” he said,
“And they deserve nothing but jail.”
A man questioned over the cat attack posted threats on Facebook after a violent assault earlier this month.
The man was left with severe injuries and underwent surgery after being attacked by a number of people in Surfers Paradise.
In a series of comments the man, aged in his 20s, vowed payback and posted a comment against talking to police.
The man was released from hospital and a week later the cat attack occurred.
Mady yesterday was still reeling and said she never expected it was her cat involved.
“It’s so disgusting. I can’t believe it.
“I felt sick when I realised it was Moo.
“What kind of person could do something like that to an innocent animal?
“It’s the same as attacking a baby.
“It’s inhumane and they are really screwed up.”
Mady adopted Moo six months ago after a friend couldn’t keep her.
At the time, Moo came with a litter of six kittens and Mady didn’t hesitate to take them in and give them a home.
“I love animals. I have three dogs and two cats …. one cat.
“I loved Moo and I found homes for all the kittens and I kept her.”
Mady said Moo would often wander off and loved to hide, which is why she didn’t know her cat was missing.
“She’s normally just hiding, like in a cupboard, You’d open up the door and she’d be in there.”
Mady said she had never heard of Mr Hallam and had no idea the motive for the cruelty.
She said the most chilling part was the thought that someone she knew — a friend — could be part of something so horrific.
“Knowing we had this psycho in our house … it’s scary,” she said.
“I can’t imagine anyone I know could be capable of something like this.
“How could they do something so horrible to a helpless little animal?
“I want them caught. Clearly, they have severe problems and need medical help.”
Police yesterday said the investigation was continuing and were determined to arrest the offender.
