A beachside carpark and part of a popular southern Gold Coast beach will be closed over the weekend as film crews transform it into a movie set.

Miami residents were notified this week that the Don MacSween carpark and the rocks at the southern end of North Burleigh Hill would be closed from 10am on Friday to 8am on Sunday to shoot blockbuster movie The Bluff.

The Amazon Prime and AGO Films movie stars Priyanka Chopra and New Zealand actor Karl Urban.

The movie is set in the 1800s and follows the story of a former female pirate, played by Chopra Jonas, who must protect her family from her past.

Filming for the movie was scheduled to start from 1pm into the evening on Saturday.

“We are planning, and hoping, our presence has minimal impact on you and your family,” the notice said.

“To ensure the safety of all concerned we will have security onsite, and the small area in and around the rocks, is – required for safe work practices and insurance purposes – to be a closed film set from lunchtime.”

The notice said there would be film lighting along the cliff boardwalk, behind the Mick Schamburg park from 11am, a lighting tower on the beach and a drone light over the ocean in the evening.

“We apologise for any inconvenience our film shoot may inadvertently cause to your daily routine,” the notice said.

“Thank you for your support, understanding and co-operation. It is greatly appreciated.

“The local film and TV industry relies on the support and assistance of the community whenever we film on location.

“We are extremely grateful to be filming in Miami and for your patience and kindness.”
