VIBRANT colours, elegant fits, and handsome suits, all with touch of spring were the taste of the moment at the fashion stakes on Tuesday for the annual Melbourne Cup’s ‘Fashions on the Field’.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions the competition took a more virtual approach this year, in which participants had their photo taken and uploaded with their details and then
were texted if they’d won.
The top 5 winners donned an assortment of floral print, bright citrus,
flowing sleeves, pastel pants, and sleek forest jackets, with one lucky couple taking out a title each.
Melbourne Cup fashions: What celebrities are wearing for Cup Day at home
Self proclaimed fashions on the field addict Renee Zorko from Ashmore won the judges over for the Best Female title with her vibrant orange and red formal jumpsuit.
She made up one half of the best dressed pair on the day with her husband-to-be Beau Zorko who took out the male runner up prize.
“I love to create for my family, I love dressing up my husband, and it’s just contagious,” Ms Zorko said.
She paired her self designed outfit with a matching wide-brimmed hat, which she also made.

Ms Zorko has been competing in race day fashion competitions for almost 2 years after being “dragged into it” by a friend at the Magic Millions.
“We just caught the bug from there,” she said.
