A health warning has been issued after an unknowingly infectious person with measles attended a Gold Coast primary school.
A health warning has been issued after an unknowingly infectious person with measles attended a Gold Coast primary school.
The Gold Coast Public Health Unit issued the alert on Thursday for anyone who had visited Clover Hill State School in Mudgeeraba on Tuesday, October 7 between 8.30am and 3.30pm, as well as the after school bus from Clover Hill State School to Austinville and Tulipwood Dr, Bonogin to Austinville.
It is believed the individual contracted the virus overseas.
The health unit is urging people to look out for symptoms up until, and including, October 25.
Symptoms typically present within 10 to 18 days and include fever, cough, runny nose, sore eyes and a red spotty rash.
The health unit says the best way to avoid measles is vaccination.
Gold Coast residents can access free community immunisation clinics run by Gold Coast Public Health.
Immunisations are also available at select GPs and some pharmacies and are free for anyone born during or since 1966 who hasn’t already had two doses.
