A man who reportedly spent the night on a paddle board in waters off the Gold Coast has been hospitalised following his early morning rescue.
Emergency services were called to Seaworld Drive at Main Beach just after 6am on Tuesday where a man had been found off the coast, a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokeswoman said.
She said the male in his 30s was believed to have been on the board since Monday evening.
Fire crews were called to join the rescue effort at about 6.45am, but the paddle boarder was brought safely back to shore before they arrived on scene.
The man was assessed by paramedics and was suffering from hypothermia.
He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
It’s unclear how many hours he had been in the water, or how he came to be there.
