Northbound lanes of the M1 have were closed after a truck rolled and spilled diesel as the Friday commuter rush reached its peak – while a head-on collision on an access road to the motorway caused further chaos.
Police were called to the first incident at 3.24pm after a truck toppled over near the Pimpama exit.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crew was also sent to the scene to deal with the diesel spillage, which forced police to direct drivers off the motorway at Coomera.

Police were forced to close the road in both directions, causing traffic snarl-ups back to the Gaven exit.
