Luka’s Fish and Chips owner Luka Palinich tragically passes away from cancer
A Gold Coast community is mourning the loss of a popular local fish and chip shop owner who has tragically passed away from cancer.

THE family of a local fish and chip shop owner described as a “beautiful soul”, “top bloke” and “a pillar of the Palm Beach community” is in mourning after he passed away from cancer.
On a post on Luka’s Fish and Chips Facebook page, his family informed the community that Luka Palinich died at 2am Monday morning.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the owner of Luka’s fish and chips (our father) lost his battle with cancer at 2am this morning Feb 15th 2021,” the post said.
“This shop was his greatest love, after his family and his passion for music.
“Those of you who knew him over the years and have shown support, your kindness is greatly appreciated.”

The message went on to describe Mr Palinich as “a pillar of the Palm Beach community for over 22 years” and informed customers his store on the Gold Coast Hwy will be closing its doors until further notice.
The sad news resulted in many people offering their condolences and memories of a man that meant so much to the local community.
“Oh no so sorry for your loss. Luka was a Palm Beach icon. I loved his fish and chips. First fish and chip shop I went to when I moved here from Brisbane 18 years ago. He will be truly missed. RIP Luka,” Janice Reimers commented.
Others related how Mr Palinich was “an absolute legend”, “a beautiful soul” and “a top bloke”.
