A once successful high school student has been jailed after facing a list of 12 charges.

A once successful high school student has been jailed after facing a list of 12 charges.

Woodridge resident, Lateisha Meree Mayne, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday to offences which included trespassing, stealing, improperly disposing of syringe needles and possessing stolen property.

The court heard the 23-year-old mum had a history of like offending, and had been on parole at the time the offences occurred.

“She’s not suitable for further community based periods of supervision,” probation and parole officer Ms Raymond said.

Mayne’s lawyer, Bettina Webb, said her client’s behaviour had declined after she finished high school.

“She was someone who was very successful at school,” Ms Bettina said.

“She began with the use of methamphetamines, she was also using cannabis as well.

“She can only be provided so many opportunities and I understand that,” she said.

Magistrate Mark Howden said the woman needed to fix her behaviour for the sake of her child.

“You now have someone else to think about, in the form of your daughter,” Mr Howden said.

Mayne was convicted and received a head sentence of 14 months jail, for all 12 offences, suspended for an operational period of two years.
