A truck rollover has blocked the Pacific Mwy southbound at Shailer Park with mass gridlock building.
Police were called to the multi-vehicle crash involving a truck and car near the Shailer Park exit around 10am.
The incident sparked major delays with gridlocky stretching from Sunnybank to Loganholme causing delays of about 50 minutes, as of 1.20pm.
Photos released by Queensland Ambulance Service show a car crushed under the trailer of the overturned truck.
A truck is on its side with the wreckage strewn across all four lanes.
According to police, the driver of the car involved escaped any injury despite their vehicle being stuck under the trailer of the truck.
A police spokesperson said delays were expected to be hours long but they couldn’t specify a specific timeframe.
They said the truck, which was carrying a load of electronics, needed to be unpacked before it could be moved.
Limited traffic has been able to travel slowly through a shoulder of the motorway, but it is reportedly very slow.
Major delays are expected for hours, with police urging motorists to avoid the area.
The delays come at a time when traffic on the Pacific Mwy southbound is traditionally busy as holiday-goers travel to the Gold Coast for the weekend.
Ambulance crews have arrived on scene with the truck driver believed to have suffered no serious injuries. It is not known if others have been injured.
More to come.
