A truck driver has died after being trapped for nearly an hour after a horror crash on a rural Logan road.

The crash happened about 2pm on Tuesday between a Mitsubishi Canter light truck and a car at the intersection of Collins Creek and Mundoolun roads at Mundoolun.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said the truck overturned and the car became tangled in trees off the road.

Both drivers were trapped in the wreckage and required specialist crews to free them.

The 43-year-old driver and sole occupant of the truck was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

The Hope Island man later died from his injuries.

The other driver, a 20-year-old Jimboomba man was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane with non-life-threatening injuries.
