Witness relives moment teen stabbed in Yarrabilba

A resident of a Yarrabilba street has recalled the freak moments she realised a teenager had been stabbed outside her home during a vicious clash on Tuesday night.

Leah Mathews who lives at Bernard Circuit woke up to chaos on the road outside her home, where an 18-year-old boy bled out onto the road following a clash between what appeared to be several teens.

Ms Mathews said she saw the drama from her doorway and called triple-0, while her partner watched on in shock from the driveway.

She said some of the teens had bare chests, shorts, and T-shirts covering their faces with holes cut so they could see. Some were shoeless.

“It was like the Ku Klux Klan but instead they just had T-shirts,” she said.

“There was about six or seven youths, varied from the age of 13 to 18,” Ms Matthews said.

“It just happened across the road here.”

A dried pool of blood could be seen on the road outside Ms Mathews’ home.

“I was at my bedroom window. I could hear yelling, screaming …

“And I’ve looked across the road and they were actually full on fighting.

“They had him slammed up (against a trailer) and I had seen a punch which I thought was a punch and then my partner came out and he’d actually seen the stabbing.

“They were actually stabbed.

“He’d been stabbed, from what he could see, (in) the front and twice at the back.

“One in the stomach and then he’s gone down, and then they’ve got him twice in the back.

“It was brutal.

“Then the victim, he’s gone straight down to the end of the street and the other two or three kind of lurked around but they all had T-shirts over their faces.

“There was blood all over the car and there was blood on the yard.

“And I’d heard voices there saying, ‘there’s a lot of blood. I’m bleeding’.”

Ms Mathews said the incident started just after 10.30pm.

“I watched him walk off, the boy who had been stabbed, he was staggering down the road.

“I’ve seen one kid, who was quite proud of himself, walking up and he had a T-shirt around his head with the eyes cut out so he could see.
