Police investigate early morning Logan Village fatal crash
The driver of a ute which hit and killed an elderly man south of Brisbane is in shock in hospital, as new information reveals the man lying on the road was known in the area.

A resident close to where a man was hit and killed by a passing ute said the man was often seen walking the local streets after dark
Police are investigating an early morning fatal crash, where an elderly man was hit by a ute, just south of Brisbane.
Police are investigating after a man was struck by a vehicle at Logan Village in the early hours of this morning.
Around 4.40am police were called after a man who was lying on Hotz Rd was struck by a ute.
The driver contacted police and tried to give the man CPR.
Police said the man sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.
A witness, who lived on the street, said she woken up by sirens.
She said she didn’t hear screaming or a bang, but that the sirens set her dogs into a frenzy.
According to the second witness, police were quick to tape off the area before removing the body and power spraying the bitchumen at the site clean.
The resident said the deceased was an elderly man who was known on the street for going on long walks on the rural road after dark.
The local said there was talk among neighbours of a red car driving up and down the street that morning with the occupant looking for the now deceased elderly man.
Another witness said the man had been curled up on the side of the street, wearing a black hoodie.
“That road has no street lights, you couldn’t see anything,” they said.
It is understood the driver of the two-door ute was on his way to work when it happened.
“He said when he ran over him he still couldn’t see anything until he’d gotten out of the car,” the witness said.
It is understood the driver remains in a state of shock and is currently being monitored by medical staff at Logan Hospital.
Police are still working to identify the dead man.
It is understood he wasn’t carrying identification and his phone was out of battery.
The Forensic Crash Unit has begun investigations into the incident and are appealing for dashcam or any witnesses.
Hotz Rd is closed at the incident site between Bobermien Road and Gayle Court.
