Oscar Blanco, 42, remembered after February 11 Sunnybank Hills motorcycle crash

A southside community is in mourning after a father of 10 died in a motorbike crash, with close friends and family paying tribute to the beloved family man.

A southside community is in mourning after a father of 10 died in a motorbike crash, with close friends and family paying tribute to the beloved family man.

Oscar Blanco was riding his motorcycle in Sunnybank Hills on February 11 when his bike hit a car.

The 42-year-old Sunnybank Hills man, with ties to the Ipswich community, died in Princess Alexandra Hospital two days later.

Family and close friends have shared their love for the tiler as they rallied around his wife Alana Blanco.

“The family are completely devastated by Oscar’s tragic and sudden passing, their whole world changed that Sunday evening,” close friend Cherilee Woods said.

“They are just taking each day as it comes. He is deeply missed during this devastating time.”

Mr Blanco left behind Alana, his wife of 18 years, and the eight children they had together.

He also raised two children from a previous relationship and was remembered for the close friendships he made through his work around Brisbane.

“Oscar was a loyal, loving family man with a cheeky sense of humour,’’ Ms Woods said.

“He was a hardworking tiler who was the sole financial provider for his family.

“He was a well-loved man who had many work colleagues and associates in the Brisbane and Ipswich area.

“Oscar was a car enthusiast and loved spending time with close friends.”

Mr Blanco’s family thanked the local community for their support.

They have created a GoFundMe page to help support Alana.

The page has fundraiser has generated almost $20,000 in donations.

The family said they said they were grateful for any help.

“The family would also like to ask the public if anyone was a witness to the crash, or if anyone had any footage such as dashcam, security camera or CCTV to please contact them and the police,” Ms Woods said.
