Investigators are at the scene of a fire which lit up a suburban street in the early hours of this morning after a blaze broke out in a caravan.

Fences and trees in Floribunda Place, Ormeau also caught fire as flames leapt from the caravan, parked in a suburban driveway.

Firefighters were forced to move the vehicle into the street to keep the fire from spreading to a nearby house.

Police said the street was “lit up” during the early morning blaze.

Police at the scene said initial investigations found the blaze possibly started from a lithium battery inside the van.

It took fire fireys 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control and extinguish.

Nobody was injured but investigations will continue to determine the cause.
