The director of a Brisbane law firm has found himself on the wrong side of the law charged with driving without due care following a nasty crash in Logan, where he racked up more than $900 in damages.

The director of a Brisbane law firm has found himself on the wrong side of the law charged with driving without due care following a nasty crash in Logan, where he racked up more than $900 in damages.

Robertson man Nathaniel Ross Delaney, 40, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday to one count of driving without due care and attention and one count of failing to provide a specimen required for a breath test.

It is alleged Mr Delaney swerved to miss a kangaroo, lost control of his car and crashed into road signs before ending up on a roundabout along the Mt Lindesay Hwy Service Rd at Park Ridge on May 28, 2021.

The court heard the crash was mainly due to “momentary inattention” because Mr Delaney didn’t have his eyes on the road when the kangaroo came out in front of his car.

The court heard the cost to fix the road signs had cost Logan City Council $927.

Delaney’s lawyer told the court the crash was due to “momentary inattention”.

He said when Delaney hit the brakes, the car didn’t react quickly enough, so he attempted to hit it again with another foot and instead hit both pedals.

He also said Delaney also has a medical condition but couldn’t provide documentation when he was later asked by police to provide a specimen of breath.

He has since obtained a medical exemption after the crash.

The court heard Delaney had a minor traffic history and worked as the director of a law firm.

Magistrate Clare Kelly ordered him to pay a $2000 fine and $927 in restitution. No convictions were recorded.
