The man, who was charged after an alleged commercial-scale magic mushroom grow house was uncovered following raids on two Logan properties, has been identified.

Police allegedly found 200 plastic tubs of psilocybin hallucinogenic mushrooms and a large quantity of dried mushrooms at a Marsden property during the raids on Thursday, April 18.

Kyle John Fitzgerald, 31, from NSW, was charged with drug production offences after the raids by detectives from the Major and Organised Crime Squad at a First Ave, Marsden home and a Rossmore Rd, Chambers Flat property.

Police alleged the rooms in the Marsden house had all been converted to cater for the various stages of production.

Specialist officers from the Synthetic Drug Operations Unit attended and removed the items.

Mr Fitzgerald was charged with one count each of production of a dangerous drug, possess dangerous drug, possess anything used in the commission of crime, possess proceeds and contravene a Magistrates Order.

He appeared at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on April 19 with his case adjourned until April 24.

Detective Inspector Craig Bowman from the Organised Crime Gangs Group said the investigations reflected the Queensland Police Service’s “ongoing commitment to disrupting criminal activity’’.

“These criminal syndicates have no regard for the wider harm illicit drugs cause to the community,’’ he said.

“They are motivated by profit, which is often used to fund further criminal activity.’’
