A Logan couple allegedly lured a man to their home and drove him around for eight hours in a van, beating him and forcing him to take meth, a court has heard.

Malachi Parekura Collier and Lauren Maree Holton faced Beenleigh Magistrates Court on May 28.

The pair was charged with torture, kidnapping with ransom/takes/detains/entices another, grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning bodily harm.

Police alleged that between May 20 and 23, Mr Collier and Ms Holton arranged to meet a man who had agreed to sign a statutory declaration form for them.

The court heard the man was originally going to sign the form to claim he committed a minor offence.

But he was forced to sign for a far more serious crime once the couple allegedly pulled out a shotgun and threatened him with it, the court heard.

The couple then allegedly kidnapped the man and drove him around in their van for eight hours, near the Calamvale Hotel.

Police alleged they forced the man to take methamphetamine and food, keeping him alive while beating and torturing him.

Ms Holton, from Shailer Park, applied for bail. She argued that she was not active in the offending but was merely seen cleaning up the alleged crime scene the next day.

Magistrate Shane Elliott granted her bail under strict conditions of a 9am-5pm curfew.

“There’s no evidence she was a party to the offending or part of the plan,” Magistrate Elliott said.

“She was only seen cleaning up the alleged crime scene the next day.

“She has a limited criminal history and is not a risk of interfering with witnesses.”

Mr Collier did not apply for bail. His matters, alongside Ms Holton’s, were adjourned for mention to July 17 in Beenleigh Magistrates Court.

A brief of evidence was ordered by July 2.
