Logan soccer player Sebastian Clissold loses battle with congenital heart disorder

A much-loved South East Queensland soccer player has been remembered for his compassion for others and giving nature after passing away, aged just 20, from rare heart disorders.

Beloved son, soccer player loses battle with congenital heart disorder

Sebastian Clissold fought his final fight on November 16, leaving everyone who knew him shocked and heartbroken.

The Logan soccer player was claimed by two rare congenital heart disorders, aged only 20.

He battled numerous surgeries throughout his life, including three open heart procedures.

His older sister Phoebi Clissold paid tribute to the brother she said was a kind and loving person.

“One of Sebastian’s most admirable traits was his compassion for others,” she said.

“Which is why it was no surprise that he decided for his 18th birthday he wanted to put together Seb’s Cardi-Packs.

“Care packs full of essential items for young cardiac patients and their families during their hospital stay.”

Thanks to donations from family, friends and strangers Sebastian, with the help of his family, was able to create 30 of Cardi-Packs and deliver them to families with relatives at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, on his 18th birthday two years ago.

Sebastian had hoped to repeat the kind act on his next two birthdays until Covid derailed those plans.

Phoebi has now put together a GoFundMe page in her little brother’s honour.

“For this reason, his family would love to see his memory live on by continuing to put together these packs annually on Sebastian’s birthday in his honour, specifically on September 17, 2022, for what would have been his 21st birthday,” she said.

“That way, he will continue to spread his sunshine for years to come.

“In lieu of flowers and sympathy gifts, we ask that support or donations of any kind be extended to Seb’s Cardi-Packs.

“Sebastian’s family sincerely thank all those who have already reached out, supported and sent love during this tough period.”

When he wasn’t giving back at hospitals, Sebastian was goalkeeper for the Logan Village Falcons.

“It is with great sadness and shock that we recently learnt of the passing of former Logan Village Falcons goalkeeper Sebastian Clissold,” the team said in a statement.

“Seb joined the club in 2019 and played a handful of games.

“Seb did fantastic work in supporting children with cardiac issues in the Queensland Children’s Hospital where he too had been treated.

“We send our deepest condolences to his family and close friends.”

Sebastian’s family are planning a celebration of his life on December 7. More information to come.
