A meth-addicted Logan father-of-two has faced court on 37 charges but might escape spending Christmas Day in a jail cell.
Ruggar Francis faced Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday, December 22, via video link.
He pleaded guilty to the charges which included wilful damage, fraud, possessing dangerous drug, attempting to enter premises with intent and unlawful use of motor vehicle.
The court was told Ruggar was also handed a two-year sentence on Thursday, December 21, in Ipswich District Court where he faced charges of serious assault and unlawful entry of a house while carrying a firearm in a bag during an incident in 2022.
The court heard Ruggar had a methamphetamine dependency.
Magistrate Ron Kilner said all the Beenleigh court charges were “serious nature in their own right” and included stealing from other peoples’ properties.
“You have caused destruction and damage facing a number of enter premises charges, including wilful damage to the doors and glass panels and stealing from premises,” he said.
“You caused damage by ramming (a car) on the frontage (of a property) to gain access.
“Then (there was) the unlawful use of vehicle ... travelling on the wrong side of the road and into incoming traffic.
“You then took it a step further and evaded a police instruction to stop and pull over.”
Ruggar was sentenced to 10 months jail, to be served concurrently with the two-year sentence handed down by the Ipswich court.
He also had his driver’s licence suspended for two years and one month.
He was immediately eligible to apply for bail.
