An alleged on-field fight during a women’s division 1 football league match has left one player charged with assault, as police work their way through interviewing witnesses from two key clubs.

An alleged soccer game brawl during a women’s match in Logan has landed a player in court, charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

Leia Mae Dietz, 39 faces one charge of assault occasioning bodily harm and had her case heard in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Thursday, June 15.

Court documents reveal Ms Dietz was playing soccer for Capalaba FC on August 17 last year against Slacks Creek Football Club, at their home ground in Daisy Hill, Logan.

The two clubs were battling in the Metro Division 1 Women’s competition at Usher Park on a Wednesday evening.

The Bracken Ridge mother’s defence lawyer Julia Jasper told the court there was a fight during the match and witnesses needed to be interviewed before the matter could proceed further.

“This was a fight at a soccer game, police have so far only interviewed witnesses from one team,” she said.

“Additional investigations need to be undertaken and additional witnesses will need to be interviewed, probably three or four.

“There is some significant problems that need to be cross-examined.”

Magistrate Mark Howden said police will need time to investigate and listed the matter for mention in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 13.

Ms Dietz’ bail was enlarged.
