A young Ipswich labourer has landed in court for punching a man bloody and fracturing his jaw after accusing him of sleeping with his mum.

A young Ipswich labourer has landed in court for punching a man bloody and fracturing his jaw after accusing him of sleeping with his mum.

Riverview man Jag Patrick Stephan, 22, pleaded guilty in district court at Beenleigh on Thursday to grievous bodily harm.

The court heard Stephan was involved in a group altercation at a residence in Beaudesert on July 19, 2020 about 7pm.

He approached the 43-year-old victim sitting in his car and opened the car door and said “You’re f***ing my mother!”

The victim responded: “I’m not f***ing your mother, cowboy is the one f***ing your mother. We’ve already had this discussion. I’m only here to pick up the kids.”

Stephan then began punching the 43-year-old in the head multiple times before he blacked out and began bleeding from the nose and mouth.

The victim was taken to the hospital and had to get surgery to fix a fractured jaw.

Judge Amanda McDonnell noted Stephan was on the probation at the time of the offence.

She also said he had a history of “aggressive and anti-social behaviour” with “street style” offences.

Stephan’s lawyer told the court her client had a troubled upbringing and was “thoroughly addicted to drugs” but now working to address that.

He was sentenced to two and a half years imprisonment with parole release date on August 15, 2022.

The 87 days he spent in pre-sentence custody was deemed timed already served under the sentence.
