A carpenter’s vigilante revenge plan against a person who nonconsensually filmed a woman having sex, ended with him sentenced in court where a Magistrate viewed the shocking, gang attack on video.

Rochedale South’s Jackson Daniel Angleton, 20, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh District Court on December 2, 2022 to robbery in company with personal violence, wilful damage and deprivation of liberty.

The court heard that on May 7, 2022 Angleton became aware of his female friend being filmed by Sebastian Aguirre during sex, against her will.

Aguirre appeared in Beenleigh District Court for this offence on August 2, 2022.

Once Angleton became aware of the video, he organised an act of revenge where he lured Aguirre to a park and confronted him with a group of 10 to 15 people.

A video of the incident was played to the court where Angleton could be seen placing Aguirre in a chokehold, he also threw Aguirre’s phone onto the ground and stomped on it.

The video showed the group grabbing Aguirre and forcing him to say he was a “creep c***”.

One attacker was heard saying “give me all your s*** now, give me your phone.”

The court heard Angleton was undertaking an apprenticeship in carpentry and his defense argued against recording a conviction, to help his future career prospects.

Judge Craig Chowdhury said the circumstances around the attack were concerning.

“This was a premeditated group attack where the victim was lured, baited, beaten and threatened,” he said,

“It was protracted violence and vigilante justice. You don’t take the law into your own hands.

“It is alarming that a group of young men who should have known better set out on this course of revenge.

Mr Chowdhury warned Angleton actions like this could have serious consequences and he could have ended up in custody.

“You could have easily killed the victim or given him brain damage.

“I hope you realise how close you were to going to prison.”

Angleton received a probation order for two years and was ordered to pay $1,000 dollars compensation to Aguirre.

No conviction was recorded.
