Guns, drugs seized in raids across Logan Village and Loganholme

Two men are in custody after a crime sweep across parts of Logan allegedly uncovered guns and drugs.

Two men are in custody and have been charged after police raids across parts of Logan which allegedly netted five guns, drugs and a range of combat wear.

Two Logan Village men remain in custody after police executed search warrants at Logan Village and Loganholme addresses on May 1.

Police alleged that during the searches located a quantity of methylamphetamine, cannabis plants, drug utensils and several firearms at a Logan Village address.

It will be further alleged a sawn-off pump action shotgun, along with a large quantity of ammunition and a handgun, were located at Loganholme.

A 36-year-old man was charged with six counts of unlawful possession of weapons, two counts of authority required to possess explosives, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, two counts of receiving tainted property, possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence, possess utensils or pipes that have been used, possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under Drugs Misuse Act and three counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

He was remanded in custody and is due to reappear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 24.

A 57-year-old man was charged with possessing dangerous drugs, producing dangerous drugs and possess utensils.

He is due to reappear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 17.

Logan Detective Inspector Chris Knight said investigators were working to make Queensland streets safer.

“The possession of dangerous drugs and firearms is a dangerous combination that presents significant risk to the community,” he said.

“These seizures highlight our officers’ ongoing investigations to make the local community safer. We will continue working with the community to reduce such risks and disrupt harmful behaviour.”
