A Brisbane panel beater accused of taking part in a nasty public fight near a Muslim place of worship in Logan is preparing to contest the charge in court.
Upper Mount Gravatt man Giovanni Vladik, 29, was mentioned in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with affray and possessing a knife in a public place.
Police will allege Mr Vladik took part in a public fight and was in possession of a knife on Ferguson St, Underwood, on August 27 last year.
The court heard Mr Vladik intends to contest the affray charge, and the matter was listed for a hearing on May 24, with a trial review on May 17.
His co-accused Jaymin Higham and Parvees Sayed also have their matters listed to be heard in court on May 17.
Parvees Sayed is facing charges of affray, assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst armed/in company and disturbing religious worship/assault officiator.
Jaymin Higham is facing charges of affray, assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst armed/in company, disturbing religious worship/assault officiator and using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence.
