A prominent Gold Coast fitness coach and bodybuilder with a large online following has lashed out in a Logan court, telling a magistrate he has “no contract with the law”.
Fabio Coghe, 32, faced Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 2 charged with a range of driving offences.
The Gold Coast bodybuilder and fitness coach was charged with contravening a direction or requirement from a police officer, driving an uninsured vehicle and not being properly supervised while learning to drive.
Mr Coghe was also charged with driving an unregistered vehicle and not having the appropriate permits or licence plates.
The alleged offences all occurred on April 6 last year in Crestmead.
No plea has been entered.
Mr Coghe runs a business called Fabio Coghe Coaching and has more than 15,000 followers on Facebook and Instagram.
He described himself as an “online fitness/business coach committed to improving the health, wealth and wellbeing of individuals”.
Mr Coghe, who represented himself in court, told Magistrate Terry Duroux he should dismiss the charges.
“I have no contract with the law or the state,” he said.
“Where is the evidence that I signed a contract to release all my rights and consent to doing business with the courts and with police officers?
“Does this apply to a living man?”
Magistrate Duroux said Mr Coghe should seek legal advice and a contract with the law was not required.
The matter was listed for a hearing in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 16.
